Kolkata Police have revealed that jailed gangster Firoz Khan, known as Mini Firoz, procured a foreign made 9mm pistol using a forged arms licence purportedly issued in Nagaland. The revelation came through an ongoing investigation into his activities.
Detectives from Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters, recovered the pistol along with its magazine after Firoz was arrested on July 4.

Investigators also discovered that he had purchased a substantial quantity of ammunition using the same fake licence. They suspect some of these bullets may have been used alongside illegal country made firearms sourced from Munger in Bihar.
Police confirmed they recovered three additional pistols, one single shot firearm, and several rounds of ammunition from Firoz and one of his associates. Efforts are currently underway to trace the source of these weapons and the ammunition.
Who is Mini Firoz?
Mini Firoz is a self styled strongman based in East Kolkata’s Gulshan Colony. He faces 37 criminal cases registered across various police stations including Topsia and Anandapur.
The charges against him range from attempted murder and extortion to assault and violations of the Arms Act, 1959. According to investigators, Firoz routinely used a 9mm pistol to intimidate businessmen and real estate promoters in the area, presenting it as a genuine firearm to instill fear.
How he was finally caught
Police said Firoz had fled to Bihar several months earlier. He switched off his mobile phone and frequently changed locations in an effort to evade arrest.
He was eventually apprehended by officers from the Anti-Rowdy Section near Dankuni Toll Plaza in Hooghly district on July 4. His close associate, Md. Sajid, was arrested alongside him.
The case that triggered his latest arrest
This most recent arrest stems from a fresh criminal case registered at Topsia Police Station on June 23. In that case, Firoz was accused of illegal possession, display and stockpiling of firearms.
Investigators have also linked him to the September 2025 Gulshan Colony shootout and bombing case. During that earlier incident, members of his alleged gang were caught on CCTV hurling crude bombs, setting vehicles on fire, and attacking shopkeepers in the area.
Recovery of the forged licence
Following his arrest, detectives searched several premises connected to the gangster. During these searches, they recovered the foreign made pistol along with the forged Nagaland arms licence.
Police said this document carried Firoz’s name but was backed by a fake Nagaland address, along with what appear to be forged identity credentials supporting it.
